Thinking of a gal
I once knew
Wondering if she ever had a clue
The love I had for her
Was forever true
While frolicking in the fields of yellow rye
She once whispered
In our future we too shall die
Tears of joy she did not cry
For a few years later
She did die
From what I have seen
All that is golden
Was once green
Looking back to the fields of yellow rye
Today I surmise
It was her way of saying goodbye
