Its messy
Its dirty
Its mean
And its never what it seems

As time goes on
And passes right by
We realize its not a dream

People love
People fight
People leave
And sometimes its all three

As time goes on
And passes right by
We do everything to try not to scream

I sit
I listen
I wait
And wonder how much I can take

As time goes on
And passes right by
Its so hard not to break

I pray
I sing
I cry
and wonder when he’ll hear

So little
So trusting
So sweet
With everybody we meet

It passes right by
And we learn that life’s not sweet
