We long to be what we are not;
Believing we deserve much more;
Than we had the day before!

Everyone has nourished doubts;
Of joining up or getting out;
Witness here the mind at play;
Does it seem to you this way?

Marrieds wish to be unwed
Singles want to share their bed;
Youngsters rush to be mature;
Seniors pray to just endure!

The poor think money sets them free;
But wealth needs guarding constantly!
Beggars long to have a home;
But homebodies would rather roam!

Travelers miss familiar faces;
Homebounds crave exotic places!
Workers want to be retired;
The jobless pray that they’ll be hired.

Actors crave their privacy;
But dont ignore them; no sir-ree!
Students long to graduate;
Alumni come to celebrate.

Your view of jail depends upon;
Which side of the bars you’re on!
The stronger is our malcontent;
The more improvements we invent!

Progress comes from wanting more;
Stronger, faster than before!
Frustration and entitlement;
Fuel many fine accomplishments!

We never would have gotten far;
Had we been happy as we are!
To generations fraught with angst;
Our fond and everlasting thanks!
