from place to place I haul my gear,
either one’s too rough, another too dear.
the search for shelter keeps me on the street,
and the domestic blisters on my feet.

from job to job I drift and dwell,
some are great, while others hell.
a need for change keeps me on my feet,
with a callused soul, bittersweet.

from tryst to kiss I stop and start,
haven’t found the one to give my heart.
my quest for love leaves me incomplete,
the hope eternal, but discreet.

a sense of place, a purpose, true,
a person to surrender to.
simple yearnings, hard to meet,
but worth the blisters on my feet.
