Yet real, alive, distinct mind provoking
Much of what we hear and see is an illusion
Or a transient dream
Distortion hammered into our senses

Look at the ocean waves - to the horizon
Peak from high mountaintop
Below, a foreboding, splendid landscape
Is the bird’s song real?
Or even the moan and ecstatic body movement of a lover

Hear the rumble of thunder
The awe of the crashing, vibrating lightning
See the gigantic contours of gray dark monster clouds
Or witness actors on the stage
Transform into new bodies and characters

Or create a replica of life so real
All our sense are bombarded constantly
Unknown waves pass through our bodies
All in an instant illusion of time
We we don’t even shake, rattle and roll!

How quickly life passes by
We wonder who we are? How we fit in?
We are small mobile creatures on two legs, foraging
We use an odd mixture of phonemes and syllables
To communicate and often to miscommunicate

Only at the cry of the baby’s birth
The crash of the car accident
Or part with a dear friend
Only then reality dissolves our illusion
