Of course it rains every day now
but to a different cloud
in grey sadness.

That day once
so long ago...
I have not forgotten
I was embraced by it
kissed by each and every cool and lovely drop
while caressed by the ether
of sodium lamps in the night
knee deep in warm swirling puddles.

I splashed and danced alone
and felt loved
How strange now
that which whispered softly into my soul
such rapt agony of joy
in each and every wondrous sensation.

My jeans about me in their weighted grasp
could not sink me
from such precipice
where whispers such love
and who to love me
but a ghost of myself
revealed in that moment
what I hoped revealed in each and every moment
such beauty in life
in living
and awareness.

Oh, such a wonder of sensation
to sit within the flowing stream
as we all do
and hold that which cannot be grasped
only to lose it
to the burden of thought.
I now utter softly
a solemn prayer to the maddening clouds
"When will it rain again... for me?"
drowning all but an awareness
that is needed for such passion
such peace?
