lovers of reading
love books;
trailing their fingers along
spines of nestled covers,
in gestures of tactile affection.
book aficionados seek the release
of fresh pressings;
sniffing the ink
as their digits trace fonts,
braille-like, across the pages.
cricked necks tilt,
coy-like, at shop shelves
and their horizontal tyranny;
eyes fixed and searching,
eager for that coveted title
or the gem in the mix.
lovers of books
eat, sleep and nest with their acquisitions,
from table to bed and private nooks;
cascading down stairs or blocking the toaster,
they live surrounded by their collections;
overwhelmed, over-read, and at peace.
