There was a man who took a fall
Yet lovely words flowed from his lips
He puts them in a silver chalice
And from it his fair lady sips
As past and future blend together
Intoxicated by this drink
Her yesterdays become tomorrows
And takes her poor mind to the brink.

Uncertain now about the present
Reality is cast aside
Here and now, there and then,
All moments of her life collide
And swirl as if a blinding snow
A blizzard of regret it seems
That causes fragile hopes to break
Into a million shattered dreams.

Uncaring for the pain he caused
This fallen man refills the cup
With poison of his tender words
Tainting the glass from which she"d sup
And unaware, she drains the chalice
Relishing it to the last
And in a silent stupor watches
As what could be becomes the past.
