It's not happening thus it's but a bad dream

A man lies pale, wasting away whilst in his prime
Slowly, painfully, fading away before it's time

Mother, father by his side tending to his every need
Family and friends gather to hope, pray he'll succeed

Cancer they say has come to claim another loved one
It's too soon; you can't have him; he's way too young

His eyes and smile still the same man we watched grow
But his poor body's trying to tell us it's time; he must go

He struggles to stay, using all the strength he can find
He doesn't want to go, leaving a grieving family behind

In his short time, he gave laughter, love, made us glad
To have known this blessed son, brother, friend and dad

Why him, not fair, not right this death's intrusion on his life
The mere thought of his loss cuts the soul with a black knife

So many stories, memories left for him to tell and create
God, please, we pray, don't allow death to write his fate

One more smile, one final story, tight hugs, sad kisses goodbye
Never to understand the loss of you, no matter how we try [comments] => 6 [counter] => 337 [topic] => 52 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => goodbyepoetry ) Your Poetry Dot Com - Fading
