Prompting a call for my own quiet rest
Amidst life's donated piles is where I lie
Forgetting the now past's urgent request

A few squeaks, creaks and a rustle of sheet
Lying back, my arms surround my old friend
Not quite a lover, yet inspires such complete
So necessary if I am ever to sleep in the end

I poke and push and even strike my bedfellow
Who never utters a single complaint nor whine
Into a night now dark as the moor from othello
I nestle with arms wrapped, knowing he's mine

Ebon shadow silently paints this familiar place
An errant evening breeze giving drapes billow
With no one else would I share this warm embrace
Snuggled sleepily, thinking, oh how I love you, dear pillow [comments] => 8 [counter] => 219 [topic] => 43 [informant] => reprobate [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops ) Your Poetry Dot Com - won't sleep without you
