[hometext] => This is two poems that I've decided are now one. Like all my poems, this is best when read aloud. Thanks.
[bodytext] => Dust vs Destiny (2-10-9)
reckless on purpose, refuse to pray
my mind wanders and my skin won't stay
my soul left rattling in a smiling cage
chased the grave all day today
happily a gravesite is our birthright
why even bother to breathe through the night
no sense of silence, no shadow of sight
no lust for salvation, no love for the light
don't even care about the coffin that crawls
crawls on the ceiling and sleeps in the walls
it watches us flail about like warm, violent dolls
it crawls then claws lazy when Tombstone calls
destined to dust, apocalypse kiss
traded heaven for Reason, milk and honey for ****
laughing at fear and my ignorant bliss
haunted by ghosts I don't think exist
blessed by a Curse that feeds on Gone Mad
dining on still-screaming goodness Gone Bad
consumed by laughter cuz it's all so sad
when god damns the souls angels wish they had
the End of It All is just for pretend
a fairy tale broken when Truth wouldn't bend
the pages of Time list the wages of Sin
as bones become dust become ash become wind
while old eons fade, while young eons grew
meaning meant nothing...not something new
a ghost who once glimpsed both the Trick and the True
said the answer is Death. the question is You.
