I feel that my Grandmother my mothers mom who was like a Mother to me helped me to write this poem to myself I could feel her there she recently passed march.16,2004 Florence M. Cooper

memories that dance like little glass dolls, dream of romance but chances just fall
lost in a time calloused they judge each movement a crime
like his job up above
whisper no mercy you've layed down the law still I am thirsty no time for the brawl
pity the scissors and now her hairs gone like all of the
Dreams she held tight for so long
123,123,123 turn but deep in her soul so much more does she yearn, if only belief
from just one other heart could give her a push, just a hint of a start
it doesn’t take much just encouraging words
as the clock waste's its time only silence is heard, her swallow's are shallow and
it goes down to quick only now so long later and she still can’t get
sick
somehow an image that’s too easy to place stairs back from the mirror, as she takes
one more taste, her eye's bloody red still a blade in her hand
and mumbling soft words now she can understand
just three choices she has and behind these three doors a decision at hand,
but what’s less is much more, the bottle drops fast and the shattering
sound makes her laugh at the glass that is scattered around
though her feet bloody red she steps up to the gate of the doorways before her
and decisions that wait, taking hold of the knob where she takes her
first steps she, posses just once on her right she sees death
his hollow hooded face seems its staring to deep only void in the hood of the secrets
it keeps, his words sound like hisses that come from a snake
it says now my dear your own bed you make
you could have sat back and let me do the job, if u'd just used that blade, your
future I’d rob no decisions to make and you'd have no more tears
and nothing to run from for I’m your last fear
before looking away to find what’s on her left, he pulled open his robe and she
watched her own death, her skin grew gray pale and her sole took its place among
other lost futures and the dreams that wont play
and the screaming she heard oh too many to tell, of pain altogether and the peaces
that fell, souls that pleaded to have just one more chance, one more kiss in the
dark, one more tear, one more dance
from the left their came voices of other demands of what moves she should make, and
and the way she should stand
if u'd chosen this door,
came an echoing voice, any thing u'd have done for you we'd make the choice, you'd
have no deciding it'd be easy this way, you'd know just where to go
you'd know just what to say, and you'd make us so happy to live as we want
see our own paths are made but yours you've still got, and to do what years ago we
could have done, and make our dreams come to life that were once gone
and she watched as she lived the way they thought best, as all she had hoped for
froze as memories at last, her life wasn’t so bad she just lived like a clone
she found someone to marry and had kids of her own, every day she'd awake at just
the right time and off to a job, like a rhythmic rhyme
she stood still for a moment and looked back to the mirror, now she heard herself say
it’s just me that you've feared, when you take the direction you've wanted to take
its not hard to see some mistakes you will make, your gonna fall down
and find your share of scars, but u know when you stand you'll know just where you
are, and if your decisions take you the wrong way, its not very hard to start over
this day, just be true to yourself and determined of mind, always stand back up
and leave the past behind, don’t look for the treasures if their meant they'll appear
and with God in your life, only he shall you fear, your future's not clear yet but
its not hard to find, life's a great journey if you keep peace of mind
there is no time limit you've forever to make every decision each success and mistake
always encourage but never enforce, make sure others know what to you they are worth
its time now to turn to door that you've chose
this was just a test and I’m glad you've arose, still there are more I now know you'll
prevail for always look deep within and you never will fail
so slowly I open the door where I stood no longer with fear for I
knew that I could
