Silent beacon in the night;
searching for a glimpse of light.
Peering through the murky gloom;
warm within your outward tomb.

Ever faithful amber beam;
Halo of a lover’s dream.
Stony walls of courage made;
Mortared by the debts you’ve paid.

Stand alone against each storm;
Flickering solitary form;
Weathered scars etch out the toll;
Yet safe within your silent soul;

Untouched by all the dark you’ve seen;
Your hopes and trust burn on serene.
Keeping lit tomorrow’s fires;
Guardian of my child’s desires;

I’ll keep watch with you tonight;
And chase my dreams beneath your light;
Until there are no storms to face;
Your arms will be my resting place.

To Norm, who was always his own.

Silent beacon in the night;
searching for a glimpse of light.
Peering through the murky gloom;
warm within your outward tomb.

Ever faithful amber beam;
Halo of a lover’s dream.
Stony walls of courage made;
Mortared by the debts you’ve paid.

Stand alone against each storm;
Flickering solitary form;
Weathered scars etch out the toll;
Yet safe within your silent soul;

Untouched by all the dark you’ve seen;
Your hopes and trust burn on serene.
Keeping lit tomorrow’s fires;
Guardian of my child’s desires;

I’ll keep watch with you tonight;
And chase my dreams beneath your light;
Until there are no storms to face;
Your arms will be my resting place.
