a sound of drums and whistles in the air.
They pull the wagons
and people perform acts that make the crowd cheer.

Standing for what seems hours
along the street of distant or local towns.
Watching many people walk by
wearing very different types of gowns.

Then come along
veterans, the heroes of our day.
They walk with pride
and on their side we stay.

Aircraft fly over head
supporting the cause of the day.
The sounds are loud
but quickly fade away.

Sirens and horns
people yelling so their voices will be heard.
The parade started on main,
and is now passing by on third.

So many children
eyes wide and ears alert.
Looking at all the colors,
here comes from Sesame Street, Ernie and Bert.

The firemen and police
protectors of the communities in which we live.
Thousands of cheers and claps
to them we will give.

Following along
one group after another.
Many of us come to watch
maybe a sister or brother.

First there were the veterans
now are the soldiers on active duty.
Sailors, Marines, Army, Reserves and National Guard
all of their various colors, isn’t that a beauty.

Many towns have these parades
to celebrate success and beauty in all that we do.
Keep your eyes and ears open
there might be a parade coming nearby you.
