Caught up in thought

Colors that fade
Before eyes that are screaming
To all black and white
In the night when I’m dreaming
Visions that span
Before thoughts
That ensure
The reasons I’ve given
That hope will endure
In words that I write
that sometime are rhyming
Laid out in style
That goes with my timing
Bits here of wisdom
That seldom I find
Truths that unfold
From deep in my mind
Of days that pass slowly
As years come and go
And for all that it’s cost
That I’ve nothing to show
But the tears that I’ve cried
And the worries I’ve felt
And all of the problems
With which that I’ve dealt
And the laughter I seen
in my daughters’ eyes
When all of the world
Is one big surprise
And tis here that I find
Where I’ve sadly spent
My time upon worries
That my mind has lent
Instead of the joys
In life that there are
In each of our lives
There shines like a star
A purpose we seek
Each to his own
In hopes that we find
Our own way home.
