When you’d look at me, and all the world would fall away,
Nothing mattered but your smile.

I miss the US that used to be, The US that was,
When I longed to be, your one and only, ‘bride to be’
Happy mother of your child

I miss the US that used to be, the US that dreamed of family,
And building together endlessly,
Partners forever through time we’d be.

I miss the US that used to be, the US that was,
when partners were we. Silently knowing the others need,
Naturally filling it.
Intimacy.

I miss the US that used to be, the US that was,
When we felt complete, secure with each other, safe as could be,
Alone we are now,
Separate,
you,……. And me.

I miss the US that used to be, The US that was,
When you’d look at me, and all the world would fall away,
