THERE ARE MANY THINGS — LIKE FLOWERS
There are many things — like flowers
And trumpets and teaspoons —
Not to mention six o’clock — or
Great outcroppings of rock.
Many things there are — like flowers
And maybe some bassoons —
But only one alarm clock.
There are lazy afternoons —
Without minute, hour, tick, tock —
Not to mention six o’clock.
