Overwhelmed me today
I thought I was over it all
I thought it’d all gone away.
We seem to gel beautifully together
Like the clouds and the sky
But we tire, bore and aggravate each other
I’m forever asking why…
The minute I saw you
Walking through the busy crowd
My terrified side disappeared
I swear I nearly cried.
It’s always being like that with you
You can erase all the worry
But a single word, an unwanted touch
Could fill my mind with fury.
I didn’t want to let you go
When it was time to say goodbye
I knew we were both destined home now
And I knew it wasn’t right to cry.
And I felt that strange fullness again
As I walked away
Until I became endorsed in panic
As I had just missed my train.
Automatic instinct took flight
I rushed through everyone barriers, upstairs
All whilst frantically phoning you
Praying you’d still be there.
I phoned, phoned
You didn’t answer
I was collapsing inside
As my heart got faster.
But at the top of the stairs
As I was racing about what to do
Just in front of me
I saw you.
I rushed myself into your arms
That single solitary place
That area, like nowhere else
I knows completely safe.
It all going to be ok now
Don’t panic, you can now be calm
We don’t slot together, we press on one another
But I’ll always feel safe in your arms.
