one's loss, another's gain.
Curiousity- they say we're related
I don't see a resemblance.
Adventurous- bravely running
around the unknown surroundings,
the breeze lifting us off the ground,
the glee as the sand hits our feet.
Fearless- joining others with only
a wave and a "Hey, what's your name?"
Fear- how much trouble do you think we'll get in?
Aversion- you really expect me to eat that?
Look at the meat that grows not shrinks,
your teeth make it come back alive.
Freezing- not only the days, but our skin
as the salt water surrounds, consumes.
Wariness- shaken awake, the firelight shining into
the tent, "What were you dreaming about?"
Happiness- finally someone like me, not so young,
stationary, or too old, no time for games,
or anything but fishing.
Mocking- old fuddy-duddies, sitting around the fire,
gossip flying through the air.
Sorrow- just one more day before the 1400
miles are once again travelled.
But for now- Joy- similar smiles etch across our faces,
friends, cousins, racing to the ocean-
