things turned out,
you being empty
and me drifting away.
Everyone always said
we would never work,
different as night and day.
Funny how
that kept us strong.
When I gave up
and wanted to waste away,
you sang me that song.
One melody,
and I knew you were right.
I would have held so tight
and never left.
Where did we go wrong?
Funny how
we talk like it was
forever ago,
as if you don't recall
every inside joke-
refusing to fade.
You're my favorite stain.
Funny how
you run dry
on memories so clear,
to me anyway.
