The weight of your ball and chain get heavier
All the time I am just trying to get closer to you
You let me get so close
But only closer to what used to be you
Now you’re growing and I stay the same
Except for the graying of my hair and soul
I just want you to be here with me
The bruises on my ankle and heart are starting to get unbearable
The pain of being without you is still worse

At this pace I'l never get there
With every step I take
The weight of your ball and chain get heavier
All the time I am just trying to get closer to you
You let me get so close
But only closer to what used to be you
Now you’re growing and I stay the same
Except for the graying of my hair and soul
I just want you to be here with me
The bruises on my ankle and heart are starting to get unbearable
The pain of being without you is still worse
