Everlasting Love

Sins consequences rumble
As back to light I stumble
Much wiser, much more humble
So long in the dark!

Having meandered my way,
My heart forgetting to pray,
Greed shading the light of day;
Into darkness I went!

Still too arrogant to see,
What pride had in store for me;
Soon I'm the epitome
Of a foolish man indeed!

Denial was perfected.
Even though I suspected,
My conscious resurrected.
Might one day chastise my heart!

Ah, but somewhere deep inside,
Dwelt the truth I could not hide.
The God in whom I reside
Would seek His prodigal son.

Sensing it was time to start.
Hearing His voice in my heart,
Knowing its "Time to depart,"
Toward the light I did turn!

Now back into His graces,
One step forward, two back paces.
Oh the journey He faces,
To restore a man like me!

For I'm but a heart of dust,
Whose advocate sees as just,
A sinner who once did trust
A savior who paid his price!

Now I'm walking in His sight.
Sometimes stumbling, sometimes right.
Basking ever in the light,
Of His everlasting love!
