You are a child
You hold on too long
Then toss me to the wind
I flutter up and prance
In all directions, being torn
From all my sides
I cannot leave you without your approval
Please, just let me go
I am your kite
Attached by a mere string
I try to fly away from you
I cannot
Please, just let go of me
Just release me
How long must I be your kite?
We’ve put as much distance as
My ties will allow
Between us but it is not
Enough for me and it is not
Enough for you
I was not made for you
Still, I cannot leave without your approval
I cannot
Please, just let me go
Release me
I am not your kite

I am a kite
You are a child
You hold on too long
Then toss me to the wind
I flutter up and prance
In all directions, being torn
From all my sides
I cannot leave you without your approval
Please, just let me go
I am your kite
Attached by a mere string
I try to fly away from you
I cannot
Please, just let go of me
Just release me
How long must I be your kite?
We’ve put as much distance as
My ties will allow
Between us but it is not
Enough for me and it is not
Enough for you
I was not made for you
Still, I cannot leave without your approval
I cannot
Please, just let me go
Release me
I am not your kite
