I'll leave all these heavy subjects to<br />
the so called brainiacs <br />
and heavy thinkers..... <br />
So lets talk about Klondike Bars <br />
and the finer things of life. <br />
I can it seems, <br />
partake of the many flavors<br />
of Klondike bars, <br />
because my good cholesterol is up, <br />
bad cholesterol is down.<br />
BP is in the hi 90's over low 60's,<br />
I'm 6' and my weight is 157# ...........<br />
and I'm cute as a button...... !<br />
Not really <br />
but ....!!!!!!<br />
I got your attention !!!!!<br />
Anyway...!!!<br />
The lowly Klondike bar made it's emergence <br />
as a square of vanilla ice cream, <br />
with a chocolate shell <br />
and remained that way, <br />
all thru my childhood. <br />
Yeah, <br />
there was the occasional <br />
crunchy shell Klondike, <br />
but for the most part <br />
it remained basic.....!!!!<br />
I remember the debut <br />
of the chocolate on chocolate, <br />
My word.....!!!!!<br />
I thought i was in heaven, <br />
I stocked up on the new flavor <br />
and rewarded myself <br />
with this new delicacy nightly. <br />
But,<br />
I still kept a few of the original around, <br />
for a trip back to the early days.....<br />
that's right,<br />
of my addiction.????!!!! <br />
I got away from Klondike bars for a while....<br />
yeah, <br />
I yielded to temptation occasionally <br />
and bought a box, <br />
but I had kicked the habit <br />
and the high I got <br />
while savoring a Klondike,<br />
had lost it's luster.<br />
Then, <br />
a few months ago,<br />
while cruising the frozen food section,<br />
of the local grocery chain, <br />
I came to the ice cream section, <br />
and I figured, <br />
I'd do a box of Klondikes,<br />
just to make sure <br />
the addiction was truly gone. <br />
I opened the door of the Klondike sanctum<br />
and to my surprise, <br />
they had expanded the flavors. <br />
I realized then and there ..... <br />
Klondike wanted me back <br />
and was willing,<br />
noooo desperate ...... <br />
to go to no end to do it ...!!!!<br />
Not only did they expand on the flavors.... <br />
they were running a BOGO. <br />
(buy one get one .... free) <br />
I hesitated for a moment, <br />
but I knew, <br />
if I touched the first box<br />
there was no stopping me<br />
from getting the free one. <br />
So with trembling hand, <br />
(not sure, <br />
if it was the cold from the freezer, <br />
or that of an addict ..... <br />
coming off a long hiatus) ....<br />
I reached for the first box.... <br />
Sara Lee Strawberry cheesecake, <br />
drew me like a magnet........!<br />
then the White house cherry .... !<br />
OMG Planters peanut  ......... !<br />
Had I died and gone to heaven...? <br />
One by one.... <br />
I lifted the boxes out of the freezer.....!!!!! <br />
There was Reese's peanut, <br />
Caramel swirl, <br />
Heath Bar, <br />
Chocolate on chocolate .....<br />
 I trembled ...... <br />
and slowly filled my basket,  <br />
with each flavor <br />
and it's companion BOGO ......! <br />
I had to have them all <br />
and I needed to taste them all...! <br />
Somehow, <br />
while our illustrious law makers<br />
 were busy <br />
taking the Bible out of society.<br />
 Klondike saw it's chance, <br />
slipped under the wire <br />
and thought <br />
they had the answer <br />
as a replacement. <br />
I was not to be fooled by their ploy ..... <br />
nor did I see it as such............<br />
they wanted me back...<br />
plain and simple...! <br />
This plan was directed <br />
straight at me...<br />
from the flavors <br />
to the BOGO special......!!!!! <br />
Where was my protection under the law, <br />
to just say no .....!!!!! <br />
Seems I had waived my rights<br />
and was elbow deep in Klondikes. <br />
Since that day, <br />
I have perused the weekly ads, <br />
pretending to look for ways.... <br />
to save a few bucks in my grocery budget, <br />
but down deep <br />
I knew what I was really looking for .......<br />
.KLONDIKE specials....!!!!! <br />
I sit here writing this, <br />
munching on a Reese's klondike, <br />
I have to wonder.....<br />
will I ever be free of this addiction .....????  <br />
Well, <br />
I think I have made head way in one area....... !<br />
There are about 10 boxes of <br />
assorted Klondike flavors in my freezer <br />
Butttttttttt ......!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br />
Not one box,<br />
of the beloved original. <br />
I guess...................<br />
I truly am cured.......!<br />
