A figment of my imagination
A whisper in the wind
My mind distorts reality
As darkness closes in
Temporary insanity
Encompasses my mind
My sense of reality is losing hold
The darkness closes in
I hear my mother crying
She is standing by my bed
I try to rise to talk to her
But cannot lift my head
The disease is eating through me
It's now working on my skin
The cancer takes ahold again
As darkness closes in
I dream the dream of dreams
Of life without the pain
Only to be awoken
For the pain has struck again
My mother holds my hand
I try to hold hers back
But the strength has ebbed right through me
I can feel my hand go slack
She feels so cold to touch
Her face becomes a blur
I am slipping from this world
Death is the only cure
I wondered if it was my fault
If god was punishing me for a sin
I shed my last and only tear
As darkness closes in.
