[hometext] => This poem is a sort of second part to another of my poems
[bodytext] => Sullen and despondent,
I crawled back in my shell.
I closed my eyes and disappeared from this place of living hell.
These thoughts are my anesthetic to help me drift away.
In the dark and all alone is where I'm left to lay.
Impending slumber creeping up on me oh so very slow.
I wish it'd just come take me now and show me where to go.
Everything is black and way beyond my reach,
But why am I still thinking?
Why aren't I asleep?
This hypnotic rhythm of pain beating within my heart,
Languidly I collapse to watch it fall apart.
Constant tremors of anxiety begin to course each vein,
Attacked by an ague in which I can't sustain.
I shake with no control,
Or a control that I don't know.
With every little shiver,
The pain inside will grow.
The fire in my tightened chest has slowly come to subside.
My eyes are red and swollen now from all those tears I cried.
A mind full of painful memories makes it hard to sleep.
And all that I was hoping for was some time to rest in peace.
My dreams were my escape.
My solution to get away.
But even while I'm sleeping,
Images of you still stay.
Please sing me back to sleep.
Just carry me away.
Show me what its worth...to live another day.
