No more the ravaged mind from parasitic disease
Life became a burden, wounds too deep to heal
Now at last torment subsides, to dignified sleep

Cold winter chill surrounds us, bites deeper than before
Not number by nature's icy hand, but the stinging sense of loss
A fight without a reason, now mercifully at end
The will to live instinctive, body no more than shell

We could not penetrate your world, did not posess the key
Eyes saw but would not recognise, just embers from the fire
A ghost of someone that I knew, that knew me not at all
Tattered memory remnants, fragments of former self

The curtains shuttered as we stood, we bowed our heads in prayer
Entrusted now to the higher power, as witnesses we came
Your passing marked by all who grieved, farewell the final act
Though long ago you left our lives, we gave one last goodbye
