[hometext] => I think this would be best described as sceptical poetry, but that's not an available category, and I can't imagine enough people wanting to use it to bother making it one, so...
[bodytext] => When I met you, I was polite
For little did I know
That as my love for your daughter grew
Your hatred for me would grow
She told me what you said to her
About me being a spoiled brat
Well, I hate to break this to you, guy
But she didn't fall for that
She got out of high school
And now she wears my diamond ring
But out of self-preservation
We didn't tell you a thing
You didn't tell your wife's parents
My dad didn't tell my mother's
So we decided to just lay low
And wait to tell each other's
Well, inevitably, you found out
But you were not alarmed
You told your daughter, my fiancée
That I'd be accepted with open arms
I wonder sir, what changed you
Made you a much more accepting man
And when I get those open arms
What will be in those hands?
