Say Hello to Young Poets on the Site
First,
Don't tell me you respect the young poets equally.
But I hope you appreciate them and will say hello--
just leave a comment of encouragement on their poems.
The value of the young poets here is that they are often
much more enthusiastic about poetry than alot of you jaded
fossils who have no problem with keeping your poetry
a modest accomplishment that will never amount to anything
in the real world.
The youths have something to say, and would love the world
to hear it.
Look at their poems and just imagine who their influences are,
and what they are wanting and trying to say.
What they want to contribute.
This guy Mason is on here very often,
reading and reading,
commenting and thinking.
Loving poetry.
So pick a young poet from here and introduce us to
their work.

haha I happen to be one of the young poets on this site!!! lolz I;m obviouosly Live2Die...i think I've got 3 poems posted, and I would really appreciate it if you would read and COMMENT!! i get a few reads...but not nearly enough comments. I am thinking about entering one in a contest to shut my teachers up, but I would like to know what you all think of it first. The title is "If We Were Meant To Be" the other I would like you all to read is "Who Are You?" pleeeaaasseeeee read and COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by the way, I'm Marissa for all of you who DONT know that lolz!! oh...and im usually here...trying to read&write something worth posting...

Anyway, I checked out L2D, and young poets feel free
to introduce yourselves. It would be interesting to know
a few things, like your influences.
In my youth Edagr Allan Poe was my biggest influence,
and remained so forever.

My daughter Michelle just joined, her udername is footiebabe, and she is only 9. She has a great love for poetry and the world around her, and its refreshing to see things through her eyes.

I admire some work more than others,
but respect...well everyone gets the same (nods vigorously at everyone)
unless they do something to change that.

JANE!!!! You stole mine! I was going to use Unlovedchild,lol. She is 15 and is so sweet and really appreciates everyones comments and feedback. I can see her growing as a poet the more she posts.

I know shes very nice, shes going thru alot for a 15 year old. So guys keep reading her poems she really is a great new talent.

Wyrd_faerie (Lucie) she's 16 and is a beautiful girl, with a beautiful heart, who writes beautifully dark poetry. One of my favourite poets on the site... I wish I could meet her in person.

I'm a young poet, I'm probably one of the youngest of the young. Considering people are saying that 16 in young, I'm only 12 years old.

I'd like for people to check out the few poems that I have posted on this site...
I try to write at least 2 poems in the run of a day, just don't remember to post em. Of course, I just joined today, and I'll have a lot more of the "beautiful verse" as my membership in this site progresses...

Hey yall!
im 15. i been writing poetry since i was 8, just little verses and song lyrics , but nothing that was spectacular. i didnt get totally involved in poetry until i turned 14 tho... id just liek to thank all the people who have posted comments on my poetry thus far. i really truly appreciate it, expecially from the older poets because (this may sound funny) i see you as my "jedi masters" and you guide me through the world of poetry by giving me comments on my poems on how to improve and what i am doing right. thank you everyone! luv yall

I guess I qualify as an old timer on the site. I think people are missing out if they are not reading the newer poets, but newer does not mean younger.
I have a great respect for every writer that I read on the site and I will try to read as many writers poems as much as I can. I hope those same writers will not pass up the chance to read my poems as well. (I am okay if I read another's poems and they do not return the favor, though I think they are missing out). Most of the poems I have written this year are from the inspiration of poets writings that I have read.
Hi Andrew, I read your newest post today and it was fer good. Tell me, do you work on your poems for a long time or do the words just come to you?

Well, Archie, it varies with my work. I guess the majority have always been quick writing, usually a half-hour or less. Some, however, have taken a bare ten minutes, some have taken days. But I find if I don't complete a work soon after beginning it, I usually end up dropping it.

This year I have written poems that have taken 5 minutes up to 7 years depending on the subject. When I can't finish something I put it in a notebook until I feel like working on it again.

Seven years ago I wrote no poetry, and since beginning about three years ago, I've improved steadily enough that nothing I wrote "way back when" seems good enough to pick back up. I may, though, with time. My style and my ideas are rather different now.

That's the thing about poetry, some ideas have to mature. I am a different writer than i was 7 years ago and thats what makes working on ideas so great they mature with us. That is atleast my idea on writing poetry.
Some of my best writing is stuff I persistently work at.

Welcome Michael. I had the opportuity to read one of your poems and you write well for your age. I think it is good that you participate on the site too.
I am 38 and have been on the site since 2004 I write some 60 poems a year I have 180 on the site. I have been writing poetry since 1985.
I hope you enjoy writing and reading poetry on site with us (all the members) I will check in on you from time to time to see what you write about. I hope you do the same for me. Until the next poem or comment i wish you a good day.
