Painting A Life

Another day closes. Tomorrow unfolds to new adventures. One step at a time, cautiously (from experience) or foolishly (with joy). To be freed of today and yesterday. To stretch, yawn, and create what has never been. To be, just once, as I would!
I wonder how to grapple with lofty goals without trampling the sweet perfections? When to place a foot at a time; when to leap; when to let go…
Everyday to erase less than I create, and how to measure that before the light fades?

There are bare spots on the canvas from pursuit of loving dreams and unwise choices long abandoned. Many precious colors left by others who painted here; and one or two small masterpieces unintended and lovingly enshrined.
But mostly the canvas is a trite bread and butter work..a tapestry of courage, neglect, sweetness, and ever modern strokes upon the old diciplines that die so hard.
Not always hung in the best light, the casual observer will only see the surface. But the artist knows every stroke, every mellow layer, down, down, to the first dab of fingerpaint on the virgin linen.

2011

This truly did paint a life and I like how you pointed out that "the casual observer will only see the surface".

Very nice work here.

Thank you,

Tim

This can be taken in a number of ways. Whether its
the artist that physically and carefully places paint
upon a canvas to be enjoyed by generations long after
the artist has passed away. Whether its through the eyes of a parent with their children being their
cherished works. Or ourselves being our own artist
painting our lives the way that we want the world
around us to perceive us and look at us.
This again was brilliantly written.
