Remember...

Topic: Badlanguage

Remember the time, the older kids teased, pushed you, and made you cry
I stood there fearless, fought with my all, and then received a black eye
Remember the time, you tried and tried, but your parents just wouldn't understand
I wiped your tears, gave my shoulder, and was there to hold your hand
Remember the time, you got dumped and thought you would never love again
I built up my courage, confessed my love, and you said I was just a friend
Remember the time, you found the one who finally earned your heart
I was there, front row with best wishes, but mine was torn apart
Remember the time, you called at night crying cause he lost his mind
I got out of my bed, whooped his ass, didn't waste any time
Remember the time, you left him, moved on with life, a brand new day
I expressed my love, but you said you could never see me that way
Remember the time, one cold night; I went for your heart one last time
On Christmas day I bought you a ring and spent my very last dime
Remember the time, he came back, said he changed and you took him in
I gave up on us, moved on with life; even afar, I remained a friend
Remember the time, you figured that the love you gave only begat strife
I couldn't bring myself to tell you about the new found love in my life
So you come to me now, to tell me how you realize your love for me
Right from the start, never opened your heart not blind but couldn't see
That always loved you, cherished your soul, never once kissed your lips
Constantly tortured, always crushed from stories of relationships
You expect me to stop my life, because you entice, that your love is the shit
No love or romance, you've lost that chance, nothing more to say, that's it
Besides the fact, you need to look back, to one cold lonely December
My love was always there, although unaware, just think back and remember
That the special thing on that ring was what the inscription read
From the start you had my heart, then it asked, "Will the Wed?”

this is extremely well-written... and so very true... you eloquentely express yourself, your intents and what happens when one plays with another's emotions... if this is a personal poem, i hope you have found the true love of your life... blessings...

The situation is personal but it's written for the world to relate to. I write to bring others into the story. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks I have found love.

Oh my ... some poems really touch your heart and this is one of them ... I got goosebumps and then shed a tear, because I know how terrible this feels. A wonderful, wonderful poem. So glad you found love in the end ... Jan

Thanks, I'm glad you were able to relate. I think everyone can relate to this in some litle way. One could be the person who always expressed there love even though unnoticed, one could be the one blind to the expressed love, or one could be the one now with the one who always expressed their love. Kinda like that skater boy song huh? People all over the world experience this in some way or some point of view so the concept was naturally easy to write about but getting the audience into the story was the challenge.

It's amazes me that so many people relate and most are the one's that lost out. Deep down I still have feelings for the one passed up, but I have a new love(old love actually) she's my wife and we have two beautiful daughters together. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
