Why did I let the his scars become mine.
Why did I ever think someone so broken, could ever give me peace.
Inside his dark world is where I have been stuck.
Underneath a false shadow of who he said I was.
Fighting a fight that was only within him.
His blackened heart started to taint mine.
His angry thoughts started to swallow my mind.
His angry hands made my hands angry hitting back with everything I had.
My head was so cloudy losing myself inside a broken angry man.
I know who I am and that was not me.
Your lies can no longer haunt me.
Your hateful words no longer pierce my soul.
Your hands no longer mark my body.
For I shall find happiness myself, within myself surrounding myself completely.

I am not sure where empathy comes from,
this reason why we care for another, when even
it means those we care for can never be fixed,
they just do not care about much, and they care least about
you. You are the one that they can control, in
bringing you down, they control something,
at least perhaps that is how they might think.

And that is a hard thought to fight against, considering it was someone whom you thought that you once loved.

happiness is happenstance, it should be free willing
and spontaneous. It is so true that we would
be more than willing to undercut our own free willing
happenstance in the hope of helping others we love,
if we only could.

And when we do, ninety nine percent of the time
those we will struggle to help, don/'/t do what they
do to control us, instead, they actually require our
help.

and even then, we can find a somber happiness.
So you should know firsthand you did the right
thing to break free on your own.

It was the right way to fly.
Peace!

Excellent write.
So true. Many have been there unfortunately.
