I know I am just a child,
I’ve not spent long in this world
but here’s my take on
hugs and kissing,
except from mom and dad, permitting…

I can tolerate
your denture smile
and lazy wink,
but let’s forgo
the pillow hugs,
cause grandma?
—you stink.

your lesser half
also pongs,
his rancid breath
all kind of wrongs;
and grabby hands
a little gross
to those parts
I keep real close.

apparently, I ‘owe a kiss’
to relatives I’d rather miss
I’d tell you all, go spin on this
but to some of you, that would be bliss...

cheesy breath and bad cologne,
body smells that empty homes;
moth-balled clothes, poorly aired
when will the munchkins just be spared?

the media is quite ablaze
with allegations freshly raised,
of sleazy moguls and their way
—now the small folk have their say!

finally, a child’s right
to not be forced to ‘squeeze real tight!’
or lifted up on to a lap,
that feels like dough
and smells like crap.

keep your beer and stogie stench,
from your grasp I’ll likely wrench
—I’ll take a handshake or a wave,
and smile back if you behave.

so if you think me aloof or shy,
stop and think:

you just might stink.

//Oh geeze, this was great, Spike!!! Thank you for being the children/'/s advocate!

I never forced my daughter to do any hugging or kissing of the adults...because, I was forced to as a child and I related to why she was uncomfortable with some relatives. I/'/m part Sicilian and they/'/re big on kissing // on the lips //!!! I was forced to kiss Granpa on the lips even though I hated it. He always had prickly beard fuzz. I really loved him but not that.

This was indeed a great one, Sir Poet.

Thank you,

Tim /

Our family did the kiss on each cheek thing with our aunts, uncles and grandmother (my dad was half French Canadian) With our cousins, there were hugs and kisses.

Great write.

I/'/ve got to hand it to you, you come out with some really amusing and clever writes.
Again this is one.
Made me laugh, which is never a bad thing
