I wish I were with someone else other than who I am with right now
I wish I were no one else other than who I used to be before now
I wish I were with everyone else rather than being by myself right now
I wish I were sometimes anyone else other than the reflection staring back at me now

I remember being someone else other than who I currently am now
I remember being inside of a youthful love story a long time ago and now I am not
I remember walking down an old muddy dirt road all alone and now that road is made of red bricks
I remember calling out to my parents out of despair and now they call out to me from beneath the daisy shores

I remember being on the other side of the world inside of my head and now I am here with you
I remember existing inside of a living never ending nightmare and now I am here day dreaming of other happier days
I remember being blinded by all the red and blue glaring lights in middle of the night and now I am king of my solitude once again
I remember seeing my first child being born into this world and now I remember the love I felt for her that day as well all the many others

I remember seeing an old picture of a gleeful energetic youthful happy boyish soul dancing in the dark and now I am old and see no more
I remember waking up inside a parallel spiritual world all alone yet I wanted to remain and now I remember only the endless sleepless nighttime songs
I remember talking to a youthful version of myself about the possibilities that awaited us and now I am reminded of those conversations once more
I remember asking God for forgiveness for all of my sins and making a convent with him as well to seek out others in need of help and lead them towards God’s grace, eternal love, redemption and salvation and now that I am no longer in desperate need I am reminded that I broke that vow as well but no longer.

Memories are beautiful things. I have enjoyed hearing of yours. And always remember, you are still who you remember, if that is what you desire.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
