[bodytext] => dust settles on barren landscapes
double takes and distorted shapes
I hear the phantom pitter-patter
of disembodied clang and clatter
sounds ring crystal clear
when no one’s here
and empty rooms
sing desolate tunes
of yesterdays
under gloomy haze
now all these things that don’t live here
their constant static interferes
drowns out everything else around me
I keep going blind ‘til I can’t see
fading senses
and cold defenses
just giving away
what doesn’t fray
months spent blanked out
under blankets
sit and wait, now
trust in fate now
choke on your questions
growing obsessions
powerless over
your life’s foreclosure

I find in your words the prevailing
wind of high anxiety,
while most of us wish only to be
free, or possibly small,
like a sea otter swimming with
this embedded animal smile on his/her face, and
your sitting in the ferry traveling
home from the island to the mainland, and you spot a great white not too far from that otter, as the sunlight
glints of the sea, and you are thinking
thinking, holy cow,
there is so much out there, while
you hold onto your little grandchild,
a precious little baby
And you know this world
means everything, all that you
have
Peace!
