the past year’s barren landscape has left a stain
sometimes I forget
then I remember all over again
sitting on the couch, I stare outside for hours
inside of me is crashing down like towers
melodies repeat
like the thoughts in my head, over again

feels like my heart’s constantly turned up to ten
I honestly can’t remember a day when
there wasn’t this ache
living alongside this love I am in
and I wish it wasn’t hard to talk to you
or to trust in what the universe will do
they say let control go
but I can’t turn off all this mental din

and you can’t understand what people go through
until you’ve walked at least a mile in their shoes
I’m the only one
wearing this pair, and they’re wearing so thin
times goes by, I feel more and more like a ghost
but I know it’s real ‘cause I feel it the most
these walls keep me safe
so I make a life with paper and string

I haven’t been sleeping very well these days
I’m wound up tighter than an old toy to play
these visions and nerves
have got me jumping up out of my skin
tears spring to my eyes at the drop of a hat
they all say it’s just stress, well I believe that
the lonely part is
no one can conceive just how hard it’s been

barefoot on the balcony in summer rain
cruelly surrounded by so much life sustained [comments] => 2 [counter] => 94 [topic] => 61 [informant] => MoonlitAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

I remember feeling the way you are feeling
I run away when ever I get a tinge of that feeling
well done
flows nicely

Sounds like the safety of your walls are wearing thin as well. As I read this my heart echos your ache. I hope a solution presents itself and that you find the strength to take it.
A very emotive piece of writing.
