We’re so flattered, doesn’t matter, and no one reminds us That we will be eternally, right where they can find us.

Salaried has come to mean you’re theirs week ends and nights. They predicted, you’re addicted, and by God they were right.
Cause everytime it calls us, we grab for it to see, Who is there, and what they want, we just can’t let it be.

Workers compensation needs a new directive; That pays us all to be on call, if that is what’s expected.
When lesser jobs go round the clock, they add a shift and staff; But we’re told that our time’s our own; exactly when is that?

When phones had cords, they went ignored, while everyone went home! Technologys a Trojan horse, we’re no longer alone.
Where we go and what we buy, the movies that we see; Belong to corporate history, and youre an entity.
Day or night, you’ve lost your right to own your privacy.

Perhaps like vapes its gonna take a fake phone to inspire; A disconnect we dont suspect. A addicts pacifier.
If time is money, where’s yours honey? Speaking corporately: They won’t pay us, and so say us, we will work for free. FREEDOM ISNT FREE
How true that statement is...whether its paid for
with money or with blood.
Since according to our government our RIGHTS are
not right, so Im guess those that have sacrificed
whether a little or alot....theyre sacrifices have been
in vane.
It is going to take an event to make all our technology
a bunch of paperweights to get us to realize how
much of our lives we have been missing. We need
to stop worrying about everything that is going on
in every little backwoods corner of the world and
start focusing again on what is most important and
right in front of us.
Everything that we consider as a privilege is a
mean for us to be taken advantage of. If we all
got paid to be on call then we would have to
consider work to be the main necessity for us to
survive and maybe we would actually be able to
enjoy a little bit of life while we are still younger
and not have to wait till we retire...which the
prospect of retirement is all but obsolete for any
generation that has and will come after the
baby-boomers. Brilliant write and I apologize
for turning it into a political discussion.

Thank goodness I was never //this // salaried. I was salaried when I was an underwriter but they didn/'/t issue us cellphones or bug us once we went home.

Great poem, as always, Softy!

We took turns as to who was going to be "on call" in case of emergencies. Remodeling work required it even before cell phones. But your words are accurate. Salaried has come to mean indentured servant.
I love this!
Thanks for sharing!!!
