[hometext] => If you think parenting is hard; try being a kid!
[bodytext] => We love them unconditionally. That’s what parents do! So we expect the same respect And love to be our due.
We cater and support them,Fulfill and aid and care, trust, believe, dispense, retrieve, And this is what we hear:
I hate your rules; home’s worse than school! You scold and make demands.I’m not free to grow and be the person that I am!
You don’t know about my day. You haven’t time to listen. The things I fear, you never hear; Im just an intermission!
I only ask for simple things; I need to grow and thrive; You’re the boss of everything; The one who must decide.
You tell me not to lie or fight; But you do both a lot. What’s right for you, is wrong for me. You break the rules you’ve taught.
My world is technology. Yours has been replaced. You laugh at my reality; you call it a disgrace.
Academics, sports and art, music, you compel Me to exceed for your prestige. I fear I won’t do well.
Dear Lord please let them trust me, I know Ill make mistakes. Help them to forgive me, whatever it may take.
Help me reach them, help me teach them all a mother should. And tell their children for us both, they did the best they could.

one parent to another,
let me say, I was okay with never having any children.
I grew up the youngest of ten, I was forced to baby sit,
my older siblings kids.
It hurts, I wished, I always only wished to someday be alone.
But I/'/m getting along, finally on my way when I meet up with this gal, and she wants a kid, a child, and I say,
well let/'/s go ahead and adopt, but that was not even in the cards that she dealt me.
So we had our children. And I loved them.
And I hoped they loved me.
And mostly every I did thereafter was for them.
And they never even cared.
I was lucky with my son, he was mellow like me.
But my daughter who is of the hyper intelligent kind,
who wants to be an astrophysicist, has OCD
and suffers from depression, and you know
I would give her everything, and work as a busboy
in a faraway low class joint until I die,
just to make her happy, just to do whatever I could
do not to have to worry about her like I do.
So I know kind of what that is like.
but that/'/s not why I write.
I write for nothing,
I write, off the cuff,
I was born to write.
It preserves my thought
makes it stick, momentarily
and I don/'/t care for how long...
Peace! |

Friends of mine over the years have told me that they/'/ve had this exact reaction to their parents, so reading this made me smile.
My parents were divorced, so my mom raised us, and although we didn/'/t always get along with her, my sister, brother and I always knew we were loved and cared for.
This was a beautiful write.

With us all being children ourselves obviously during
different time periods than our children. But looking
back we saw our own parents in the same light that
our children see us. As we have gotten older we
look back in hindsight and realize that our parents
were right or at least did their best to try and save
us from making some of the same mistakes that they
made as a child. Coming to realize at times tho that
some lessons are better learned the hard way.
It is true tho that with each new generation that
is born that the world that the parents/'/ grew up in
gets replace, considered obsolete. We told our
parents that they were unable to accept the
changes yet here we find ourselves walking in our
parents/'/ shoes.
I just want my kids to look back on their
childhoods when they have grownup and have
families of their own and say..."NOW I
UNDERSTAND, NOW I SEE WHAT THEY WERE
TRYING TO GET ME TO SEE, THANK YOU MOM
AND DAD." PS....DAMN I WISH I WOULD HAVE
LISTENED.
Brilliantly written as always and I couldnt have
said it better.
