The tether that once held me - that used to gently, yet violently, pull me back... is missing

I fear I’ve strayed so far or have stepped so lightly on my path that it is nothing, and no longer mine

I feel discontent and wandering

I’ve placed myself in the bosom of modernity and cannot satiate my hunger

All of the imperfections I worked to put away are my only comfort

I simply cannot change who I am

It’s been decided. I’m not asserting fate, nor circumstance, nor lack of will. Simply, I have not found success in my efforts

Deep down, I am a wolf. And, I’m trying to convince myself I could be happy as a sheep.

I’m not here for blind adherence. Even if that were my lesson - I cannot tame my spirit.

Well written. I think if this is how you yourself are feeling you are surrounded by millions feeling the same as you are. I think it comes with the boredom of aging. Very expressive piece!

they are dolphin, or whale, or fox, or wolf,
possibly they are butterfly, or moth

or perhaps standing in the spooky reality of today,
you are a bit of all, somehow.

nobody is sure handed, nobody is resolute,
but even knowing that seems too easy
for you.
I think there is a wide expanse in what you
would define as a challenge for yourself
somehow.

Peace!

Powerful writing, oozes quality yet at the same time anguish.
I think we all lose ourselves sometimes in life, hopefully the path will become more vivid again and easier to follow.
Life is tough, there is no dress rehearsal so we have to try and get it right first time
Easier said than done!!

Steve
