A time to stand. A time to flee. To bring them all home safe with me.
To swiftly strike or pay the cost. To weigh the gain against their loss.
Know the battle cant be won, yet understand it must be done.
We speak the words we need to say, that men will follow in harms way.
And mourn for those who won’t come home. The families left to stand alone.
The folded flags for those assembled, gently placed in hands that trembled.
All these things return to taunt us. Faces left behind still haunt us.
A legacy born of command, survives within the hearts it damned.
The generation gone before; til death shall they remember war.
And trust a child they never knew, to take the torch they left for you. 🇺🇸

A wonderful tribute. Heartfelt and very powerful.
There are too many wonderful lines here for me to
focus on any single one.
