Will I find hope or continue on a downward slope
Without hope where will I find the strength to cope
Will the Lord show me the way to a new day
Or will I continue on lost and at what cost
As the road narrows my journey becomes long
I guess I`ll carry on and hum the sparrow`s song

the house sparrow in any kind of weather is a bird
you observe if you observe any kind of weather.
when the rain falls hard and if you can retreat
into any kind of shelter, you might observe
a house sparrows struggle, witness it shake its feathers, fly and encircle
its certain patch of land since it is terrestrial.
The observant one of nature would see other odd birds which travel the world over dependent upon the season they themselves endure, often with watchful eye.
The bird is a symbol of God, as if God
is a symbol of freedom and self propelled flight.
And then there are these built in safeguards that allow
for a way to endure.
And then there are ways for one to observe.

Peace!

You have described the emotions of depression perfectly. A persistent lackluster feeling of numbness,
and a hope that someone will intervene and show us the way. I like the vision of you humming the
sparrows song and continuing onward, and the analogy that sunshine is happiness and darkness
sad.
This theme is prevalent in your recent writing. You are a thinker who helps us all measure where we stand. A noble use for a poet!

Amazing! I love reading your poetry. (Even though it makes me want to cry - and that’s because it touches deep inside)

Thank you!
