Holding my hand shaking you told me you needed me,

Lighting a fire in me that I cannot simmer.

When this fire escapes my heart and lights the night of reality, you need to remember it was you who lit the match.
Knives have no place in my back, and ash is all in my wake.

I will step over discarded pacts as lone wolves howl
I will shake this world with your name like serpents tongue
I will forgive you for you do not know what you did

Very chilling if a bit wicked....
Just the way I like them.

Your poem does not question why; it puts the responsibility squarely where it belongs. My favorite line is YOU NEED TO REMEMBER IT WAS YOU WHO LIT THE MATCH.
This is a powerful read because you do not second guess yourself. You have taken a confident stand.
Bravo.

A powerful and cleverly written statement.
Nice of you to forgive, but I hope they somehow become aware that they wronged you. Otherwise there might never be the chance for reconciliation.
