Nor are you the roles you play; that got you here so far.
Pay attention little star; To that self within!
The callow youth so absolute, who took life on the chin.

Like medals we use labels, that explain our history.
Beneath whose layers of fables, lies that person you call ME.
No matter what theyve named you, when daylight falls again,
Its YOU who seems a stranger, to the child who knew you when.

How very true.
On the shelves of our memory we have piled up so much
mess that we have lost the child we used to be. We
try so hard to use material things to describe ourselves
when its the innocent child weve lost that would best
show the world who we are. You are on a roll and you
really do make it look so easy :))

I really enjoyed this like I have so many of our other
pieces.

I started creating distance between my occupation and myself when I was 35. It will never define me. People seem to ruin everything you once thought was golden.
Great writing indeed.

I just call myself on the telephone. After all, talking to myself is my most strongest mostest art.

Hello?

You`re talking to yourself.

No I`m not! Shut up!

No, you shut up!.

Wait! What? Oh yeah, the poem.

"It`s YOU who seems a stranger, to the child who knew you when."

Actually we reside together, right here, right now, in this ol` cranium.

I have no medals. I`m just me. Some attitude but when it gets right down to it, humble. No? That child still resides within me and I believe we should all hold on to that. It`s no fun if we don`t.

Another great write from our very own Queen Softy, the Queen of YPDC. WOO-HOO!!!
