paints my landscape like a battlefield
every step I take
just leaves me burning at the stake
but I’ll never let it show
‘cause I can’t find the way home
can’t I just lay my head down?
I’m so tired of living on the edge of a breakdown

this house is not a home
‘cause I’m never alone
I never know
who might open the door
I’m a prisoner of war
and of my very own lore

I’m grasping at straws
the rotting corpses of all that was
I’m clinging so tight
to anything I can make just right
eating, breathing self-control
**** my tarnished heart and soul
skin and bones are all I need
they’re the only parts of me anybody can see

this body’s no temple
just an accidental
dirty rental
so lock all of the doors
‘cause we’re going to war
and we’re **** keeping score

never a blank slate
the numbers slowly accumulate
I sink my teeth in
but the image you see is deceiving
only my eyes know the truth
apparitions of my youth
running fingers over curves
dig my nails in ‘cause I **** hate this war of nerves

there’s no sanctuary
from this adversary
I can’t bury
choking on poison
please don’t let the noise in
this pain I’m not voicing [comments] => 2 [counter] => 115 [topic] => 61 [informant] => MoonlitAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

So deep and sad....
I have written similar and many here have as well.
A very profound write but too sad to rejoice over..
I hope you just write of struggles and are not living them.
Great expressions here.

This is just too good
Wow you should embrace the anguish and weave straw into silk like you have with this write.
