can I hold your hand for your whole life

I totally relate to this. My wife left me in June.2002. My former step son was like a real son to me. I took him to karate lessons, doctor, etc. I really didn//'//t feel a difference between him and my biological daughter as far as kids are concerned. She let me see him for about a year but then cut off all ties. I was met with resistance and threats of violence, so not really sure brought all that /*****/ on.

I love your poem. That second stanza!!! :(
