I feel the pain begin to bubble within.
I wanna rid the bitter sadness,
I wanna shred apart my skin.

I no longer wanna feel this emptiness,
Peace at mind is all I seek.
Isn't it quoted in the Bible,
That God shall protect the weak?

People say they understand my sadness,
When in reality, it's so much more.
Nobody can feel my worthlessness,
As my blood trickles to the floor.

I look down at my trembling hands,
And wonder how they can do such harm.
How a soul so black, so torn,
Can maul apart her arm.

This feeling in me isn't sadness,
There's more to the lonliness and pain.
Nobody knows the magnatude,
Of bearing the cutting stain.

My depression goes deeper than sadness,
So deep its reached bone.
My mind is slipping away,
As my sanity drifts into the unknown.

This pain is never ending,
This "sadness" has no cure.
No longer am I innocent,
Now that I'm a cutter, I'm not pure. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 208 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Pats4eva7 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Hello. Please don't feel alone. I can relate to your poem. I used to cut, I stopped. I think I started getting embarrassed when people would stare at my arms, also I realized I was stronger than the urge to cut. You are too.

You are absolutely right, there is so much more to depression. I believe that people who suffer from deep depression all hurt themselves in one way or another. I hope you find peace. This is a good write. I can relate. Thank you for sharing.

So true! Depression is made up of so many different layers and we each own our own unique piece of sadness that others cannot quite understand. You're not alone. I hope things get better for you. ~Blue~

How right you are, though many of us feel sadness, somehow your sadness is perpetually different from mine. I think you can tell from my screenname that I suffer daily also. I'm listed as a manic depressive withe extreme psychotic features as well as paranoia. It's tough and this fast paced world of ignorance refuses to make it easier. On your thoughts of self destruction, we are all party to that, in one way or another, but it can be overcome. Keep writing and remember, you'll always have a friend in Manicland.
