Array ( [sid] => 99952 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Hero [time] => 2005-07-02 23:44:05 [hometext] => I met someone whom I thought was worthy of the title 'hero', and wrote this. The words to the poem just kind of came to me. [bodytext] => The real heroes,
Are the unrecognized.
For what is more noble, than to give everything,
Only to receive nothing.
Not even a thankful glance.

Only the brave, continue on,
When they have nothing left to live for.
Offer words of encouragement,
When they hardly believe it themselves.
When all hopeful days have blown away with the wind,
They still continue on.

Only the strong, cry.
Cry not only over their own torments,
But the torments of others,
Who are too numb to shed tears, or even feel emotion.

The true heroes,
Don’t walk among us, but below us.
They are the outcasts.
Because without them, how would we know,
Truly understand just how good life is to us.
For things can always become worse,
But yet are never as horrible as they seem.

Heroes go unnoticed.
Catch us when we fall.
And teach us to walk, and hold our own.
Only to have us run away from them.
But they are persistent,
Holding tightly to their glimmer of hope,
That maybe,
Maybe tomorrow will be different.
Maybe justice will be a flickering light in the distance.
Or maybe not.

They are the unrecognized and the unnoticed,
Real, brave, strong, and true.
They build us a bridge to walk on,
The heroes. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 163 [topic] => 19 [informant] => rockergirl94 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => InspirationalPoems )
