Array ( [sid] => 99865 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Deluge [time] => 2005-07-02 03:08:24 [hometext] => Wrote this as I'm seeing who I used to be, the things I used to have, and how I desire to return to the joy and peace I felt. I could classify this poem as sad, life, religious, many things. This time, it does have a happy ending. [bodytext] =>

I can see her,
as through misted fog.
Each droplet of decision clinging to what was
and dampening what is.
The smile raised innocently to heaven,
imploring the God she adores
to shower her endlessly with peace.
But the droplets of decision drape so drearily
upon her darkened lips to drag her further into dream.
Questions imploring the starless sky
cascade through heavy vassels of the present pain.

Lord, when will this deluge of decision
be lifted from rainbow's light?
Lord, when will the mire of sin
be washed from this suffocating soul?

The mist is the mirror of all she has become.
Each droplet is a tear fallen from a hurting lovers eye.
Her cries quieted by moisture's blanket,
she sees the pain she's caused reflected in every mirror.
Longing to seek deep inside the life that once was,
longing to revert to what was loved
to save those who stand solid within reach,
still loving.

Lord, when will this deluge of decision
be lifted from rainbow's light?
Lord, when will the mire of sin
be washed from this suffocating soul?

Splash as she collapsed in puddles of emptiness,
seeking the ear of those wronged to beg absolution.
New drops caress her downturned cheeks,
warm tears of a broken soul's repentance.
Reflection of weakened failure fills her hollow eyes
as she cries to heavens hidden in the deluge.
Honesty flows through cracked lips,
pleading, offering all to one unseen.

Lord, I walked away and I've fallen here,
abandoned on every side I seek someone to save me.
Empty and alone, I cannot carry on.
Lord, let this deluge of decision
wash away the sin suffocating me.
Lord hold me in your arms and save me,
My Rock and my Refuge, my Fortress of Strength,
the Healer and all Hope.

Earth shatters as life familiar is wrenched away.
Tossed asunder is the threatening past the devil used to taunt.
Drop by drop, mud is washed away, as sin passes into past.
Kneeling cleansed from rebellious decisions,
life is surrendered here today,
and Freedom reigns.
Freedom reigns.

Wow... I stand in respectful awe of your
endless talent. I really needed this right now
especially the last 5 lines it really spoke to
me as I am sort of doubting God at the
moment. I am stuggling with what else to say
because I loved every aspect of this poem it
is hard to single out individual lines or w/e
that stick out. Anyway I will try my best I just
loved the descriptiveness and the imagery in
this work of art.

"But the droplets of decision drape so drearily
upon her darkened lips to drag her further into dream."

Those two lines were astounding the
imagery and usage of extended alliteration
was just mind-boggling. This was one killer
poem my dear Kara.

This is a great poem. It reminds me of reading through the psalms in the bible. There is an honesty and openness that David has that I can see in your poem. God does give second chances. I am definately glad he does.
