It was honest and true
When I said I would be
A friend as long as wanted by you

I stand firm in this statement
I never have wavered one bit
When I offered my friendship
That was ultimately it

But I will not chase after
Nor force myself on anyone
So with distance and silence
I feel the friendship is done

So I will live my life
Until such time I hear
That a friend still thinks
Our friendship to them is dear

A saint I am not
But I do the best I can
I have days that are off
As any other human

I am in no way perfect
But then neither are you
So why do you think I must
Be compassionate in everything I do

I am a sinner as most
But trying everyday
To be a good person
In most everyway

Once in awhile I fall short
And that I can’t help I am sorry
But I will pick myself up apologize
And start a new page in the story

Bravo, Shari. None of us are perfect and never will be. I am there if needed. I won't force you to be my friend. I will come to you when I need you, but don't expect to be your top priority. Friends, true friends are so hard to find. They are rare priceless jewels, totally irreplaceable. You are a marvelous lady, fantastic poetess and from what you have offered me, a true friend. I offer the same to you. Bless you, Rita
