"Is there a reason for my being?"
I ask myself,
"Is this real... this world I'm seeing?"
So many lives
perish in the pitch of midnight.
But so many others shine
with God's given grace and light.
The world's destiny
one may never know.
Yet could it be changed
by saying a simple, "Hello?"
You tell me there's no hope,
only slivers of light remain.
But look into that little light
for there hope slithers through the pain.
As the stars settle among the sky,
they whisper in my ear.
They tell me smile the long lost smile,
smile through the hurtful tear.
I ask myself, "What is the reason?"
The answer I shall never see.
The answers to the questions we ask
may never even be.
I ask not why we go,
I ask not why we stay.
I ask myself why we began,
I ask myself, "What is the meaning of today?" [comments] => 0 [counter] => 149 [topic] => 21 [informant] => THEL0STDREAMER [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

I ask myself,
"Is there a reason for my being?"
I ask myself,

The world's destiny

Yet could it be changed

As the stars settle among the sky,

I ask myself, "What is the reason?"
The answer I shall never see.
The answers to the questions we ask

I ask not why we go,
I ask not why we stay.
I ask myself why we began,
I ask myself, "What is the meaning of today?"

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
